Skin Complaints

Some skin complaints, or a scurfy coat can often be caused by a period of incorrect feeding. A programme of weekly fasting together with a premium quality diet such as Quantum Choice can help to improve skin and coat condition.

Quantum Choice does not contain wheat, soya, beef or dairy products, and no synthetic colours, flavours or preservatives are added. This has proved invaluable for many dogs suffering from food related eczema, poor coat condition or scurfy skin.

External Treatment

Wash the dog thoroughly with Tea Tree Oil or Coal tar Shampoo as directed on the bottle. Use Tea Tree Oil or Exmarid Lotion for any areas which continue to remain affected. It is important to remember that this external treatment is intended to relieve the symptoms and help reduce the irritation, whilst the corrective diet has time to take effect.

If your vet has recommended Quantum or given any specific feeding instructions you must follow them. If your dog has been put on a special prescription diet you must seek your vet's advice before changing to any other food. .

Corrective Diet

Feed your dog Quantum Choice Lamb and Rice or Select Protein complete food in one or two meals per day. Quantum is scientifically balanced and requires no further additives (oils, vitamins, etc.). Because of it's high digestibility, you may notice a lower stool volume from your dog; this is quite normal.

It is essential that you do not feed your dog any table scraps, treats, additional meats or gravy, dairy products (including cheese or chocolate) or products containing wheat (toast, dog biscuits, etc.) as these products may counter the benefits of feeding Quantum choice. Tinned dog food should not be used or added to Quantum at any time.

Every dog between one year old and eight years old must have a weekly fast day. This is extremely beneficial and allows your dogs digestive tract to have a rest from food. This is a natural process for your dog; you are not starving him. On the day following the fast day, 30-50% additional food may be offered split into two meals. Some dogs fast naturally for 24 hours, it is important to allow your dog to fast and not to offer highly flavoured foods as an alternative during this period. Dogs over eight years old should be offered half their normal food on one day each week.
